It is incredible how quickly time flies and before you know it, your mini me has turned one! It is a time for you to congratulate yourselves on surviving the last twelve months and reflect on just how far you have come together over the past year. This session is special because it marks the end of babyhood and the start of toddlerhood. This is a milestone that is definitely something to celebrate!
I offer two types of 1st Birthday celebration sessions. The Cake Smash & Splash and Milestone with Splash
The best time for a 1st Birthday Celebration session is between 12-14 months.

YOUR QUESTIONS
What does a milestone session involve?
This session is the cleaner version of the cake smash & splash. This is the perfect session for little ones who may have food allergies, for those who donโt like the idea of things getting messy, or for those who donโt like to see food wastage (although, itโs important to note that I do send the parents home with the remainder of the cake in a cake smash, so the wastage is kept to a minimum).
I take a range of images during this session, including baby on their own, with 2-3 outfit changes, family and sibling images (if requested). During a milestone session, there will be opportunities to take more family and sibling photos, than there is in a cake smash & splash.
There is the opportunity to use props such as lovely handmade natural wooden toys, a little stool, for those little ones who are at the cruising stage and like to stand, rather than sit and gorgeous textured fabrics, which I will match up to the adorable rompers/outfits you will have to choose from. I also have large beautifully handmade wooden ONE letters, which we will use during this session.
We then finish off with a splash, because we all know how much babies love a warm bubble bath!
What does a cake smash & splash session involve?
During this session your little one gets to enjoy their first taste of cake! I take a range of images during this session, including baby on their own, with 1 outfit change, a family and sibling photo, then we get to the fun part of the actual cake smash.
This is a very hands on session and I usually warn parents to bring a second change of clothing (for themselves!). Your little one can taste the cake, squish the cake, jump on the cake, anything goes during this session!
We will then finish with a splash, where you little one will have a warm bubble bath to wash off the evidence of their cake smash feast!
How long do the sessions take?
Sitter sessions are completely dependent upon each baby, but if your little one is happy, these sessions will be between 1-1.5 hours.
How can I prepare for my session?
Make sure your little one has a really good nap beforehand and has been fed. We want them well rested and full of energy!
Sometimes babies are a little unsure about the cake, when it comes out. So itโs good to have a few messy play sessions (maybe not with cake!) before your session. Giving your little one a taste of cake, before their big day, may also help them get stuck in during their session!
Do you photograph kids parties, weddings, christenings?
No.
What should I bring to the session?
- Nappy bag
- Snacks for your little one
- A change of clothes for them (and you โ if it is a cake smash!)
For both of these sessions, I also like to suggest to my mums and dads to bring any special toys/blankies or family heirlooms that mean something to you and your little one.
If you have a traditional outfit that you would like your little one to be photographed in, I absolutely love taking photographs of babies wearing traditional outfits that are part of the family custom.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. A weekend surcharge of ยฃ50 will apply if you would like to book in a session on a Saturday.
