09 Jun Project Doorstep – The end of an incredible journey.
Wow, what a wonderful past month it has been!
Project Doorstep gave me the opportunity to meet so many amazing local families. All sharing their lockdown experiences with me, as I took socially distanced family portraits on their doorsteps. Some juggling full time work at home with children and others getting into their fitness. There were some who had been furloughed, or made redundant and some in the midst of homeschooling. There was a common theme with all the families I met. Despite the ups and downs each family had experienced during lockdown, they were all united as one. The community spirit was stronger than ever.
I photographed almost 70 families across Woking – puppies, a duckling, lockdown newborn babies, babies on the way and families celebrating anniversaries and birthdays.
I am really proud to say that as a community, Project Doorstep has managed to raise an incredible £1,620 for the Woking & Sam Beare Hospice. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated.
Sorry to all the families I wasn’t able to photograph. I wish I could keep Project Doorstep going, but as the Government has now given the go ahead for businesses like mine to reopen soon, I need to start focusing on what this means for me and my clients.
I am still working on ideas on what to do with all the images and lockdown stories I have collected. However, there is one big idea in the pipeline, so I will keep you posted!
In the meantime, please enjoy this video I have created, showcasing all the lovely families who participated.
Stay safe and stay well.
